Funboards are fun boards, hence the name. They are designed for beginners who will sacrifice a bit of the cool factor on the beach for the fun factor in the waves. No matter how athletic you are you will probably not be able to learn on a shortboard. Even if you skateboard, snowboard, and happen to be a champion on the balance beam.
